Award-winning publication: Introducing a Societal Culture Index to Compare Minority Nations
Published in: The Journal of Federalism
The paper authored by Félix Mathieu and Dave Guénette details a new and original analytical and methodological framework known as the Societal Culture Index (SCI) to study minority nations. The tool aims to foster more harmonious cohabitation between communities and takes a two-fold approach to advancing knowledge. It empirically operationalizes the concept of a societal culture developed in 1995 by philosopher Will Kymlicka and also serves to set out a scientific protocol to assess the level of hospitality of multination states—such as Canada, for example—that are home to at least one minority nation.
