In recent years, right-wing extremist groups have been gaining visibility in Canada. Considering the Canadian context of openness to multiculturalism and immigration, how do these groups advance their claims to attract new members? Is their discourse adapted to the particular context of the province in which they take root? Audrey Gagnon sought to answer these questions by analyzing the rhetoric of the Québec and Canadian chapters of the Soldiers of Odin based on the information they share on their Facebook pages. Her study shows that extreme right-wing groups negotiate their self-representations by using significant cultural elements in their respective contexts.
