Abstract
The Enquête Sexualité Sécurité Interactions en Milieu Universitaire (ESSIMU) survey documents the sexual violence experienced by student body, faculty and administrative staff members in six Québec universities committed by individuals affiliated with the same institution. The article by Sandrine Ricci that has emerged from this pioneering research outlines the sociohistorical context of the social mobilizations that have led to scientific, practical and normative progress against sexual violence in higher education, including the adoption of Bill 151. The evolution of institutional responses to the issue and role of the media in increasing its visibility are also considered.
